Ghana coach Otto Addo has emphasized the need for discipline and caution in defense as the Black Stars prepare to face Sudan in a doubleheader for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Having conceded two goals while only scoring once in their first two matches, Ghana aims to tighten their defensive strategy against the Falcons.
"We have to be disciplined and cautious against Sudan not to concede," the 45-year-old coach stated.
Addo reassured fans that he would focus on teaching the players effective tactics to avoid conceding goals, acknowledging the threat that Sudan poses. "The players understand the situation, but as a coach, I will have to guide them to play well and not concede because we know how dangerous they can be," he added.
The Black Stars will host Sudan on October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by a return leg in Benina, Libya, on October 15. After a disappointing 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger, securing wins against Sudan is crucial for Ghana to improve their chances of qualification.
The team is set to begin their training camp on Monday in Accra as they prepare for these vital matches.
