The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has expressed his optimism that Ghana will qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He attributes his confidence to the expertise of the Black Stars' technical team, headed by head coach Otto Addo.

In an interview with Peace FM, Mustapha Ussif acknowledged the increasing competitiveness of international football, stating, “Now there is no small team in the world, look at what is going on at the Euros. You know that even smaller countries are doing so well.”

Despite this, he remains certain that the Black Stars will excel in the qualifiers and secure a spot in the next AFCON tournament. “The only thing I have confidence in is our technical team led by Otto Addo. Otto Addo knows most of these countries—Angola, Niger, and Sudan are all good football nations. I have so much confidence that we will top the group,” he said.

Ghana is set to begin their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign in September, with a home match against Angola.
