Black Stars deputy captain, Thomas Partey has returned in the Black Stars squad after some months out and is set to captain the team against Mali and Central African Republic, in the absence of main skipper Andre Ayew 

Otto Addo on starting his job as the full time head coach of the Black Stars, announced his squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers earlier this morning at the GFA headquarters

The 30-year-old has been out of the Black Stars for sometime now due to injury and last featured for Ghana in October last year against Mexico in an international friendly.

Partey has really battled series of injuries this season reason he misses out at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and also in the last international window. 

The versatile middleman returned fully recovered and featured in most of Arsenal matches in the latter part of the season; having made only 16 appearances in all competitions.

The four-time African champions had what isn't an impressive start to the World Cup qualifiers having won against Madagascar but lost to Comoros in their second game and will hope to seek redemption this time around.

Ghana will play as guests to Mali in Bamako on June 6, before they host Central African Republic in Kumasi on June 10, 2024.
