Communications Director of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo has suggested that, James Kwesi Appiah should be included into the Black Stars technical team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced gaffer has already had two spells with the Black Stars (2012-2014 and 2017-2020) and is currently the head coach of the Sudan national team.

Since taking over the Falcons of Jediane in 2023, Kwesi Appiah has been very impressive having qualified them at the expense of his own country Ghana and earned himself an extension.

In the ongoing AFCON, they have a win and defeat each from their first two matches and win over Equatorial Guinea marked their first win at the continental showpiece since 2012.

They will now have to avoid a defeat in their final group game against Burkina Faso to advance into the knockout round.

Speaking on Asempa FM, the Hearts of Oak Spokesperson says the Ghana FA should consider bringing back coach Kwesi Appiah for the World Cup if only he will be willing to return

“Kwesi Appiah has the experience. If he is willing and legally able, there’s nothing wrong with him joining the Black Stars’ technical team for the World Cup.”

James Kwesi Appiah led the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
