Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has warned the Black Stars against underestimating Panama ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The West African giants will face Panama in their group stage encounters of this year's global showpiece, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Despite Panama making only their second World Cup appearance, Kingston believes the Black Stars must respect their opponents.
"Everyone is looking up to the game against Panama, but we should not underrate them. Everyone, I believe, is looking forward to these kinds of games, but these teams are such that they work hard," he told SuperSport Blitz.
Kingston also highlighted the Black Stars second group game against England as a fixture to watch.
"These are games; I believe the players will be ready for that. Most of the players look up to them, and they play just like the English team, so it will be a tough one and an exciting one as well," he added.
Ghana’s group stage schedule sees them open against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, they will then face England on June 23 in Boston, and conclude against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
After early exits in both the 2014 and 2022 World Cups, the Black Stars will be aiming for a stronger showing in the expanded 2026 tournament.
