The forward, who became a cult figure in the Gulf region with his goal scoring exploit, has urged the nation's football governing body to help in sharpening the talents of rising stars over their finishing abilities in front of goal starting from this time

Black Stars legend Asamoah Gyan has said that goal scoring is an art and that young and upcoming players must be groomed over that, rather than relying on superstition to overcome such a challenge on the international scene.

The former Al Ain goal poacher, who remains Ghana's all-time top scorer and Africa's highest goal scorer at the FIFA World Cup tournaments, has addressed the issue over the lack of a clinical finisher of his calibre for some time now since calling time on his playing career in 2022.

Speaking in an interview, the former Sunderland marksman believes that Ghana could produce prolific attacking forwards if they concentrate on grooming the young players over their football scoring technique, with that being a craft that needs to be harnessed at their developmental stages.

He told Channel One TV: ''Because goal scoring is an art,'' Gyan retorted. ''It’s not about any pastor praying for you or going to anywhere to do. No, no, no, no. It’s an act so we have to just groom the young ones, teach them how to score goals. That is how we came out with the act of goal scoring. You know, this is an act,'' the former Stade Rennais frontman emphasised.

''Goal scoring is an act. Okay. It’s not about anything. You have to just practice it,'' he concluded.

Gyan won 107 caps for the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars on the international stage, with 51 goals to his name before hanging up his boots in 2022.
