Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku has urged Ghanaians to remain patient with new Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Bryt FM in Koforidua, Opoku said the experienced coach needs more time to fully introduce his ideas and build the team.
“It will be very difficult for the Black Stars to perform at the 2026 World Cup. We have a new coach who still needs time to implement his philosophy, style of play and preferred players. In my opinion, it will take time for him to fully settle into the system,” Opoku said.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama for the tournament.
Despite hopes of a strong campaign, Opoku believes supporters should avoid putting too much pressure on the team and instead focus on long-term progress.
“We must manage our expectations heading into the World Cup because we are not there yet. We should not expect too much from the team at this stage. The focus should be on building for the future and creating a solid team,” he added.
