The Danish second tier campaigners have secured the signature of the budding starlet of Nigerian heritage from the Japanese fifth tier outfit ahead of the summer window
Japanese-born Nigerian starlet Brian Nwadike has joined Danish 1st Division club AaB Aalborg from Japanese Kantō Soccer League team Toin University of Yokohama Football Club on a four-year contract, the club have announced.
The 20-year-old striker is linking up with the Reds after undergoing a successful trial in February 2026, with such impressive performances now landing him a deal at the Aalborg Stadion ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A statement confirming his signing reads: ''AaB has signed a four-year contract with Japanese youth national team striker Brian Nwadike.Brian Nwadike was on a guest visit to AaB for ten days in February, where he made a good impression on both the coaching staff and sports director John Møller, which is why contact has been maintained in the following months.
''20-year-old Brian Nwadike has scored two goals in eight U/23 internationals for Japan, while he previously scored six times in 14 appearances for Toin University of Yokohama FC. In the coming week, Brian Nwadike has been selected for Japan's U/21 national team, which will face Ukraine and Uzbekistan in Slovenia.''
The Nigeria-prospect budding forward has told his club's official website: ''I am very happy, proud and grateful to be part of AaB. I will give everything to the club and do my best every day to develop both as a player and a person, so that I can help the team in that way. During my almost two-week training stay in AaB, I was very well received by both the players and the coaching staff, so I am sure that I can grow as a player in AaB's environment, says Brian Nwadike and adds:
''First and foremost, I come to the club with an ambition that we as a team can return to the 3F Superliga. I would like to contribute to that by scoring goals and working hard, and I am very much looking forward to getting started this summer and playing in front of the fans, who I hope will continue to support the team well - both when things are going well and in the difficult periods that may come, because it is never easy to get promoted.''
Sporting director John Møller added: ''Both as a person and as a player, Brian Nwadike made a very positive impression on us in February, and since then we have also followed him and seen him in action. Brian has obvious potential, but it is important that we are patient with him. He is a nine-man type with great physique and good mobility, and we believe that he will be able to contribute to our first team during the coming season.''
Having featured for the Japan U23 national team so far, the promising youngster still remains eligible by switching nationality and represent the Super Eagles at the senior level.
