Young Apostles FC have officially asked the Ghana Football Association to replace the referee for their crucial Matchday 32 Ghana Premier League game against Nations FC this weekend.
The ‘Agya Na Ɔwɔ Tumi’ Boys has sent a letter to the GFA General Secretary asking for referee Juliet Appiah to be replaced for the match, which is very important in the fight to avoid relegation.
In their letter, Young Apostles pointed to concerns over the referee’s handling of their Matchday 29 match against Swedru All Blacks. They said some of the decisions in that game led to frustration among fans and created tension at the stadium.
The club also raised concerns about public perception, noting that Nations FC are based in the Ashanti Region, the same region where the referee is reportedly linked.

However, the club stressed that their request should not be seen as an accusation against the referee, but rather a move to protect fairness and calm around the match.
“Our sole interest is to ensure the sanctity of the competition and a serene, secure sporting environment for both teams, officials, and fans,” part of the statement read.
Young Apostles FC also called for a neutral official to be appointed for the game and said they will respect whatever decision the GFA takes.
The match is expected to be highly important, with Young Apostles FC just one point above the relegation zone, while Nations FC are also still fighting to secure their top-flight status with three games left in the season.
