Aduana FC eliminated holders Asante Kotoko from the FA Cup and was mainly due to the top-tier display of their goalkeeper Prince Osei, who has says he was very much aware and prepared for the game without any pressure.
The ‘Ogya’ lads walked their talk by coming to Kumasi to edge reigning champions Asante Kotoko 4-2 on penalty shootouts after a goalless draw in regulation time in a very entertaining round of 16 clash of the MTN FA Cup.
Prince Osei, has been hailed by many after the game having put up an incredible display. He saved three kicks in total, one in the early stages of the game denying Kotoko skipper Samba O’Neil.
He subsequently denied Kwame Opoku and Saaka Dauda during the main shoutouts to win it for the Fire Boys and have now advanced to the quarter-final of the competition and will now face lower-division side Techiman Liberty Youth in the quarter-final.
Speaking on Wontumi TV this morning, the enterprising shot-stopper expressed elation towards the sweet victory and added they were never under pressure heading into the game
“We were never scared coming into the game and we were under no pressure and this was due to the motivation we had from our CEO. We were very optimistic of winning the game.
“With saving penalties, I think it was from training grounds and also Im good at stopping. And I have monitored Samba for sometime and I know how he mostly place his kicks. I kept eyes on him cos I know playing Kotoko in Kumasi, anything can happen.
“Lots has been added to our club since Atta Poku took over. We are now United more than ever and that’s the reason of our recent performance.”
Aduana FC will return to league action this Friday, February 13, against Medeama SC at the TnA Stadium.
