Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has narrated how devasted they were after losing painfully to West African neighbours Cote D'Ivoire in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The Black Stars recorded an impressive campaign in Equatorial Guinea having risen from Senegal's defeat in the opening game to defying all odds to reach the final including 3-0 wins over both Guinea and the host nation in the quarter and semi final respectively.
However, Ghana despite being the dominant side in the final went ahead to lose on penalties by 9-8, missing out on their fifth success.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the former Udinese Calcio and Hellas Verona star admitted it was really a very difficult situation to handle for the entire team as they initially thought they had won the trophy but turned out to be something different eventually.
"Losing the 2015 AFCON final to Ivory Coast left us completely dead."
It still remains Ghana's best ever tourney at the continent's biggest football competition in the last decade having performed woefully in the last three editions.
