Ghana's Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, has extended an invitation to Elisha Owusu, the captain of French Ligue 2 club AJ Auxerre, for the upcoming match against the Central African Republic.

This decision to include the former KAA Gent midfielder in the squad comes as a response to the injuries suffered by Arsenal's Thomas Partey and Anderlecht's midfielder Majeed Ashimeru, both of whom are currently unavailable.

Elisha Owusu, a composed and talented playmaker, is set to make his return to the national team after being sidelined due to injury and missing the previous game against Madagascar in June. The 25-year-old has been in excellent form this season, making five appearances for his Ligue 2 side.

His most recent appearances for the Black Stars occurred during the two international friendlies held ahead of the 2022 World Cup against Nicaragua and Switzerland.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium will host Ghana as they take on the Central African Republic in the final match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
