Newly-invited Black Stars Jonathan Sowah has stated he idolizes Ghana's great Asamoah Gyan and is super excited and is willing to cement his position in the team.

Coach Chris Hughton released a 25-man list for the all-important fixture against Central African Republic next week with majority expected to make the cut.

The lanky forward had a fantastic season with the Mauves and Yellows last season and netted 12 goals and helped them win the Ghana Premier League.

Just recently in the CAF Champions League, Sowah scored in the first leg against Remo Stars and went on to win the tie on penalties to advance into the next qualifying round.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Sowah says his idol is Asamoah Gyan and is ever ready and poised to establish himself as a mainstay in the team.

“I'm very happy for this call up into the Black Stars, many thanks to Coach Didi Dramani who taught me a lot at the Local Black Stars camp.”

“It has always been my dream to play for the senior national team."

“I always look up to Asamoah Gyan that I will one day emulate what he did for Ghana. I thank God for granting my wish and all I need to do is to work hard, pray and fight for a chance."

“I am here to stay, even if I have to fight with the last drop of my blood, I will do it”

Some of the notable players like Mohammed Kudus, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku and more. Astonishingly, Andre Ayew who is without a club was also added.

However, Thomas Partey mysteriously, was also not added and reports say he is injured and could be out for three months.

Ghana will face Central African Republic in the final fixture of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers on September 7, at the Baba Yara Stadium and will face Liberia in a friendly in five days time.
