Former Black Stars star, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has advised Inaki Williams to try as much as possible to involve himself in matches when playing for Ghana since the football here is entirely different how it is played in Spain.
The 29-year-old switched allegiance from Spain to Ghana last year and debuted against Brazil in September 2022.
After almost 12 matches, the lanky forward finally netted his debut goal for the Black Stars in a vital 1-0 win over Madagascar last week to set up a perfect start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
However, he couldn't find the back of the net in narrow 1-0 loss to Comoros in Moroni in the second game of the qualifiers.
The former Udinese Calcio and Helas Verona midfielder stated this in an interview on Radio Gold in Accra;
"There are three things now why he is struggling with the national team.
“He hasn’t adapted to the African terrain that is one, he needs to help himself is two and his colleagues need to help him.
“The African terrain, there are two things that are beating him.
“The physicality of it and maybe the pitches, it’s not hundred percent about the pitches but you know how our pitches are.
“So I just brought that one in because of where he is coming from and his mentality.
“Apart from the pitches which is not too much important in this aspect, his physicality level or I think he needs to add something a bit up looking at the Spanish League how it is and coming to Africa terrain which is very physical a bit.
“He is struggling a bit and he needs to work on that.
“Second, he needs to involve in the games very much, this is not a club side that your guys know you, this is a national team that you come three or four months and you have just a few days to train and you move so know how your guys play.”
Inaki Williams has however, commenced the 2023/24 season on a higher note, having scored five and provided three assists in 13 appearances.
