Experienced midfielder Jordan Opoku insists that his former club, Asante Kotoko, is repeating Hearts of Oak's mistake of selling their best players after winning the Ghana Premier League title.

Asante Kotoko won the Ghana Premier league last season with sixty-seven points and will be competing in the CAF Champions league.

Mudasiru Salifu, Fabio Gama, Kwame Baah have all left the club in the ongoing transfer window, with leading marksman, Franck Mbella Etouga, and other players expected to leave ahead of the upcoming season.

Only Benjamin Afutu left Hearts of Oak's main team after they won the league in the 2020/21 season, but the club couldn't progress pass the preliminary stages of both the champions league and the Confederations cup.

Opoku said in an interview with Agyenkwa FM that Asante Kotoko is repeating Hearts of Oak's mistake ahead of the upcoming campaign.

“Kotoko is doing the mistake bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak did and suffered defeats in Africa last season," he told Agyenkwa FM.

”Hearts after the season (2020/21) allowed some quality players in the team to leave, and we all saw what happened.

”They (Hearts of oak ) learnt lessons and now they’re keeping their quality players," he insisted.
