Experience attacker, Augustine Okrah has rejected the second Black Stars invite for the Kirin Cup tournament citing injury as the reason.

The 28 year old has been in a fine throughout the season having netted 17 goals in all competitions so far for Bechem United who are currently the second best side in the league and are also in the final of the FA Cup.

His stupendous and consistent heroics earned him a call up to the Black Stars for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Despite training with the team to face Madagascar at home, the lethal forward was left out of the trip to face Central African Republic in the second game in Angola.

Subsequently, he was recalled for the Kirin Cup tourney but has boldly rejected the call up stating he is injured and will need time to recover in order not to disgrace himself in the national colours.

"I was called [for the Black Stars trip to Japan] but I made them aware that I was not feeling and I can’t go and disgrace myself because as a player, if you’re not fit  and you go and perform badly, you might not be called again. So I let them know that I’m not fully fit and so I cannot report to camp."

The Black Stars will leave for Japan very soon for the Kirin Cup competition which commences on June 10, 2022.
