Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong has disclosed that the Ghana Football Association approached him about switching nationalities, but he turned down the offer while awaiting his debut for the Netherlands national team.

The Dutch-born Ghanaian had the option to represent Ghana, the Netherlands, and England but chose to play for the Oranges. Frimpong made his senior debut against France in October during the Euro qualifiers, officially ending Ghana's pursuit of his services.

Reflecting on the decision, he stated, "The coach called me, I had a conversation with him, but my mind was already made up."

The 22-year-old, currently in impressive form in the Bundesliga, contributing 13 goals for Bayer Leverkusen, is attracting interest from Spanish giants Barcelona ahead of the winter transfer window.
