The Black Meteors, Ghana's U-23 national team, secured their place in the upcoming U-23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco after defeating Algeria 1-0 in the final qualification round.
Despite missing out on the opportunity to include Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus in their squad, head coach Ibrahim Tanko emphasized that they plan to bolster their team by inviting skilled and high-quality players to join them.
Tanko mentioned that they would have more options available if the tournament coincides with a FIFA date, as it will be the end of the season.
"I think kudus cannot play in U-23 AFCON but we are looking at inviting good and quality players to come and help us," he said after the game.
“If only it's a FIFA date. I think it's the end of the season so we will have more of them."
In the qualifying match against Algeria, Ghana dominated the early stages of the game and scored the only goal in the 12th minute through a well-crafted team effort, with Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scoring a powerful header.
Despite missing some decent chances, Ghana held on for the win.
