The Black Queens have moved up three places in the latest FIFA world rankings, rising from 62nd to 59th globally while maintaining their third positionin Africa.

The improvement comes on the back of a strong run of results, with the team bouncing back from a defeat to current European champions England in December last year to record two emphatic victories.

In their recent outings, the Ghana senior women national team defeated Hong Kong 4-0 before securing another dominant 4-0 win over Russia in the Pink Ladies Cup earlier this year.

The recent progress highlights the positive impact of head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, who has overseen a steady improvement in the team’s performances. The Queens also impressed at the last WAFCON, where they finished third.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde for the 2026 WAFCON, which has been rescheduled to July.
