The Ghana senior women national team have earned themselves four nominations ahead of the 2025 CAF awards slated for later this year. 

These four huge recognitions from the continent’s biggest football governing body signifies how impressive the Black Queens have been recently on the back of appearing at the last WAFCON to end their eight-year abeyance. 

The team has really improved tremendously under the tutelage of head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren and premised on their performance at last Women’s Africa Cup of Nation where they earned bronze marking an explosive return to the continental showpiece. 

Skipper of the side Portia Boakye has been nominated for the big prize which is the CAF Women’s Player of the year while the Black Queens are also in the race for the best national team award. 

Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren is also nominated in the best coach category and US-based attacker Stella Nyamekye is also selected in the best young player category. 

The Black Queens will be opening camp very soon to prepare for the double header against Egypt in the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers. 

Also, the team will face European champions England in an international friendly later this year
