The Black Queens will begin their quest for a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games from the second round of the African qualifiers after receiving a bye from the opening stage.

The advantage comes as a result of Ghana’s strong continental ranking, allowing the team to skip the first round and enter the competition at a later stage.

Despite the favourable start, the Black Queens still face a demanding road to qualification, with three more knockout rounds standing between them and a place at the Olympic Games.

In the second round, Ghana will take on the winner of the first-round tie between Mauritius and Djibouti, with the matches scheduled to take place between October 5 and October 13, 2026.

The team will be eager to make a strong statement after missing out on the previous edition of the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, where they fell short against Zambia in the qualifiers.
