Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have dropped one place to 67th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, released on Thursday, August 7.

The slight decline comes despite an impressive campaign at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where the team secured a bronze medal.

After a shaky start to the tournament, the Black Queens bounced back strongly to claim third place — marking a notable improvement on their recent performances at the continental level.

Globally, Ghana’s position has dipped, but on the African stage, they remain sixth, trailing only Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, Morocco, and Zambia.

Head coach Kim Lars and his squad will now shift focus to upcoming qualifiers, aiming to build on their WAFCON form and climb higher in the rankings ahead of the next edition of the competition.
