Former Ghana defender, Stephen Frimpong Manso has shared his views on the Black Stars mediocre performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Ghana are on the brim of failing to secure qualification for the continental showpiece after Tuesday afternoon's defeat to Sudan.

The Black Stars were shellacked 2-0 by Sudan at the Martyrs February Stadium in Benghazi, Libya. Sudan scored twice within three minutes through Ahmed Mohamed and Abdelrahman.

There was no comeback from the Black Stars, captained by West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus, and are now likely to miss the tournament for the first time since 2004.

“Struggling to beat any of the teams in our group piled pressure on us. The confidence of the team got missing after failing to even beat Niger in a neutral ground. Per statistics, it will be difficult for us to qualify and it won’t be much of a surprise if we are unable to go ahead," Frimpong Manso said.

Ghana are in deep trouble as they trail second-placed Sudan by five points in Group F, and still have to visit in-form Angola, who were 2024 AFCON quarter-finalists.
