Swedru All Blacks Communications Director Nathaniel Obeng says removing Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku will not fix the problems facing the Black Stars.

Pressure has increased on the GFA leadership after Ghana made a poor start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The Black Stars lost 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké before suffering a 4-2 defeat by The Gambia in Accra.

Ghana had taken a 2-0 lead against The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium but conceded four goals to suffer another defeat.

The two losses have left Ghana bottom of Group C without a point and increased calls for changes within the GFA.

However, Obeng says the problems facing the Black Stars are bigger than the GFA president and that simply changing the person in charge will not be enough.

“My personal view is that if we personalise it, this situation that we are finding ourselves in, we’ve been here before. There was a whole lot of campaign to get somebody out of the system. So the person was ousted, a new person came, and now we are complaining about the same thing,” Obeng told the media.

He believes the focus should instead be on fixing the wider system.

“So, meaning, it might be that it is not an individual problem; it’s a systematic problem. I believe getting Kurt Okraku out of the system won’t solve the problem. It is a system problem.”

The Black Stars must now turn their attention to their next qualifiers against Somalia in November.

Both matches are scheduled to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium as Ghana look to get their qualification campaign back on track.
