The Ghana senior men's national team, the Black Stars, have wrapped up the year (2024) with just two wins from fourteen matches and have dropped to 77th worldwide on the latest FIFA rankings release earlier today, December 19, but maintained their 14th spot in Africa.
The four-time African champions ended last year in the 61st position in the last release that was made on December 21, 2023, and have since dropped massively.
Ghana early this year recorded another disastrous Africa Cup of Nations campaign after another group stage exit and topped up with an appalling winless run in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers later in the year.
Out of 14 games this year, Ghana recorded just two wins against Mali and the Central African Republic, all in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, seven draws, and five losses. They scored 14 goals and conceded 21, thus a goal difference of -6 in the year.
Current world champions Argentina maintain their spot at the top with France, Spain, England, and Brazil completing the top five.
Morocco also finished as the African nation with the highest rank, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Nigeria in the continent's best five on the ranking.
The Black Stars are currently in the second position in Group I with 9 points after four matches and will face Chad next in March next year.
