Incoming Black Stars technical advisor Winfried Schäfer arrived in Ghana on Monday night ahead of the team's incoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The German tactical brainy was received by Desmond Ofei, the second assistant coach of the Black Stars.

Schäfer was appointed as the new Black Stars technical advisor Stars tactician in January this year, but the process of him arriving in the west African nation has been unusually delayed.

However, the wait is over, as the former Cameroon coach landed on the tarmac of Ghana, as the Black Stars technical team led by coach Otto Addo will begin preparing the senior national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in March.

Additionally, recently appointed team psychologist, Kris Perquy, and video analyst, Gregory De Grauwe, are due to arrive in Ghana in the coming days.

Even though Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), they still have a chance of securing a spot to the global showpiece, which will come off in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

In the World Cup qualifying campaign, Ghana scooped back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic. The Black Stars currently bosses the second spot in Group I, with nine points.

Ghana will face-it-off with Chad and Madagascar in the next round of qualifiers next month.
