Former Ghana international, Sam "Foyoo" Johnson has urged coach Otto Addo to talk his team round to his way of thinking.
The ex-defender revealed that he believes all players who are handed call ups to the national team need to be reminded that they have to work hard to ensure success.
Speaking on Joy Sports after several players did not report for Ghana’s final two Afcon qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Findings suggested that eight players failed to honor call ups for the two games on account of feeling unwell. Thus, Black Stars held their opponents to a draw in Luanda before undergoing a 2-1 loss to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Johnson said: “For me personally I know what they can do, but they don’t do it. They don’t do what we know they do best. They don’t show it to us when they come here.
“And what kills me is that when people are saying when they get injured who is going to take care of them.
He also showed disappointment regarding concerns that players hold back from committing due to the possibility of injuries.
“Excuse me, but that is nonsense. This is your job and that is what you choose to do,” he fumed.
“You either do it or you leave it. So if you know you will come and you will get injured and Ghana won’t take care of you then resign from the national team or don’t come at all,’’ he explained.
Johnson contends that only players fully committed should be handed call ups and selected for matches, encouraging those uncertain to keep their distance from the team.
“Don’t come and use our hearts to play. If you are to play, play. If you know you will get injured and Ghana will not take care of you or what Ghana will give you is not enough, stay and take your big money nobody will fight you.
“And allow those who want to play to play,” he concluded.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Chad and Madagascar in the Matchday five and six games next month. Ghana will host Chad on March 17, before traveling to square-it-out with Madagascar on March 24.
