Former management committee member of the Black Stars, Alhaji Karim Grusah has expressed doubts over the ability of the Black Stars to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In recent times the Black Stars have been plagued with lots of challenges, including failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 20 years, which prompted Ghanaians to ask incessant questions and lambast the team.

The Black Stars accrued just three points from six matches in Group F of the Afcon qualifiers, which included Angola, Sudan, and Niger.

The poor performance in the qualifier left Ghana bottom (4th) in the group standing with just three points.

Although, the past two World Cup qualification matches has been mission accomplished for the Black Stars, having ended round two with consecutive victories over Mali (2-1) and the Central African Republic (4-3), which has revived the team's possibilities of securing qualification, however, Grusa, owner of King Faisal is unconvinced about the team's prospects of qualifying to the tournament, which will be held in USA, Canada and Mexico.

“I don't think Black Stars can qualify for the World Cup," he told Sporty FM.

"However, I think it is also in the hands of God but the right things must be done if we want the team to qualify.

"I am a Ghanaian and I would like to see the team qualify," he added.

The Black Stars, who are currently manning the second position in Group I, with nine points, will face Chad and Madagascar in the next round of qualifiers next month.
