According to a report from Sportsworldghana, the Black Stars of Ghana will establish their pre-Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) camp in South Africa.

The decision is a collaborative effort between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Sports Ministry, taking into account factors such as weather conditions and facilities.

The camp is scheduled to commence in South Africa on December 27, 2022, as the Black Stars focus on thorough preparation for the AFCON tournament, hosted in Ivory Coast from January 13, 2023.

During their time in South Africa, the Black Stars will engage in a pre-tournament friendly against Botswana. The strategic planning of this match by the GFA is intended to ensure the team's optimal readiness for the challenges of the upcoming AFCON.

The AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast will showcase 24 national teams, with Ghana placed in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique. The Black Stars will embark on their AFCON campaign on Sunday, January 14, facing a formidable Cape Verde side.

Head coach Chris Hughton has already submitted a provisional 55-man squad to CAF, and the final 27-man squad for the tournament is set to be selected before January 4, 2023.
