The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lined up a pre-AFCON friendly for the Black Stars against the senior national team of Botswana on January 8, 2024, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.

Ghana will play against the Zebras in an international friendly which serves as a preparatory game for Chris Hughton's side ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations slated to be hosted in Ivory Coast early next year.
 
Kickgh.com can confirm that the Black Stars will be camping in South Africa for the 34th edition of the AFCON which is scheduled to kick off from January 13 to February 11. 
 
The match between the Black Stars and Botswana will be played at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.
 
The last time the two countries squared off was at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations where the Black Stars secured 1-0 victory over the Zebras of Botswana courtesy a 25th minute goal from John Mensah. The tournament was Botswana's first-ever appearance at AFCON.
 
Ghana, who are chasing to lift their fifth continental title have been housed in Group B of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and will face Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.
 
The Black Stars of Ghana will begin their title chase campaign against Cape Verde at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on January 14, 2024, then face Egypt at the same venue, four days later and then Mozambique at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on January 22, 2024.
