President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has announced the nomination of Kofi Adams, the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency in the Oti Region, as the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation.
The appointment of Kofi Adams was confirmed in a statement released by the Presidency Communication Department on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 as part of the list of ministerial appointments for the new government.
He replaces Mustapha Ussif, who served as Minister of Youth and Sports from 2021 to 2024 under the Nana Akufo-Addo administration.
With a wealth of experience in both education and politics, Adams brings a diverse skill set to the role. He began his career as a tutor at Adisadel College and later served as the Spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs for former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Adams has held several prominent positions, including Deputy General Secretary and National Organizer.
Currently, Adams is serving as the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, a position he has held since January 7, 2021. In Parliament, he is an active member of the Public Accounts and Defence and Interior Committees.
