Former Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, disclosed that his main aim if appointed as Minister of Sports and Recreation will be to sanitize the system - especially football, and will ensure it is devoid of corruption.
Vanderpuye, who previously served as Sports Minister, expressed his displeasure with the current state of sports in the country, mentioning corruption and mismanagement as significant problems facing the football hemisphere.
"If I get the opportunity to become Sports Minister in 2025, I will sanitize football,” he said in an interview he had with JoySports in September last year.
"I am not happy with what is going on. There are so many things wrong with our football and unless we take bold steps to sanitize the system and make decisions that will insure to the benefit of the people who are playing football and the footballers and not business-men, football will not grow."
Already, reports flying across Ghana indicate that Nii Lante Vanderpuye has been tipped as Minister of Sports and Recreation.
