The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released the outcome of the protest case brought by Nations FC against Skyy FC, two Division One Zone Two Sides, regarding the use of an unqualified player in their Gameweek 18 match.
The match, which Skyy FC won 3-0 at the St. Martins Anglican School Park in Daboase, was protested by Nations FC for the fielding of Victor Mends, whom they claim was unqualified to play.
Nations FC's petition claimed that Mends was first registered by Rail Stars Football Club with his Date of Birth as 07/07/2001 before being transferred to Skyy FC during the 2022/2023 main registration window. However, Nations FC alleged that Skyy FC failed to use Mends' original registration details in the FIFA Connect system and instead altered the player’s name and Date of Birth to EGHAN VICTOR JNR with his new Date of Birth as 07/09/2004.
After conducting an investigation and hearing the defense statement of Skyy FC, the Disciplinary Committee reached several decisions. It found that Skyy FC was the club that altered Mends' details, leading to the player playing with two names in the same season, and ruled in favor of Nations FC's protest. The Disciplinary Committee awarded three points and three (3) goals to Nations FC, and Skyy FC was considered to have lost the match.
Skyy FC also received a fine of GH¢2,500.00 payable to the GFA, 50% of which shall be paid to Nations FC, and lost three (3) points from their accumulated points from their previous matches. Additionally, the Player Licenses of Victor Mends and/or Eghan Victor Jnr were revoked. Skyy FC has fourteen (14) days to pay the fines to the GFA, or it will forfeit their subsequent matches after the deadline. Finally, any party that is dissatisfied with or aggrieved by this decision has within one (1) day of being notified of this Ruling to appeal to the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association.
This latest development would place Nations FC at the top of the Zone Two League table with 57 points, while Skyy would drop to second place with 53 points.
Nations FC leads Skyy FC with 4points with 6 games to end the season.
