Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has finally announced his squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and other friendlies which comes up early next month.
Having placed in Group E, the four time African champions are paired alongside Madagascar, Angola and Central African Republic and will have to do better over them to secure ticket to the next AFCON which is scheduled for next year.
Also, the team will partake in the Kirin Cup invitational tournament in Japan all as part of warm up friendlies to get themselves well prepared and gelled for the World.
The huge blow is that, mercurial midfielder Thomas Partey has been excluded from the squad due to injury and the return of Mubarak Wakaso who has also been out recently due to injury will be really malleable to the team.
Again, another notable absentee from the last squad is French-based defender, Alexander Djiku has also been ruled due to personal reasons and has been replaced with experience Jonathan Mensah.
And the pleasant news is that, skipper Andre Ayew after missing the World Cup playoffs against Nigeria due to suspension is back so as young sensation Kamaldeen Sulemana who just made an injury return.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who has netted four goals in his last five matches for Hearts of Oak and Augustine Okrah who has 14 goals so far are the two local players included
Ghana will face the Bareas of Madagascar on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in their opening fixture of the qualifiers before they travel to Central African Republic in four days time.
