Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has expressed confidence in Nsoatreman FC's ability to excel in their debut CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The FA Cup champions will face Chadian side Elect Sport FC in the preliminary round.
During a visit to the club's training, Okraku urged the Nsoatreman team to remain focused and represent Ghana proudly. "You carry the aspirations of over 30 million Ghanaians and I will urge you to keep the focus and take your training seriously," he told the players and technical staff.
He highlighted the potential benefits of continental competition and assured the club of the GFA's continued support. "Playing in Africa comes with enormous benefits. It is my fervent hope and prayer that you will raise the flag of our country high as you embark on this adventure."
Okraku also drew inspiration from the successes of other Ghanaian teams in previous continental competitions, stating, "Medeama and Dreams did very well last time and we're confident about your prospects in the CAF Confederation Cup."
The GFA President assured the club that the association will continue to offer its support to ensure they deliver for the Ghanaian people. "On behalf of myself, the Executive Council and Ghanaians, we wish you well as you begin the journey to conquer Africa."
Nsoatreman FC will host Elect Sport FC at the Accra Sports Stadium for the first leg of the preliminary round on August 18, 2024, before traveling to Yaounde for the second leg on August 23.
