Former Ghana international John Paintsil says the ongoing CAF License A coaching course in Prampram has been a valuable learning experience.
The former Fulham right back, who earned over 80 caps for the Ghana national team, is among 20 coaches taking part in the intensive program aimed at improving technical skills and leadership in football.
Speaking to 3Sports, Paintsil said the course has helped him understand the demands of modern coaching, both technically and mentally.
“During the B, the B taught me a lot of things, how a coach needs to carry himself, how a coach needs to position himself and all. It’s not about you being an ex-player, but I believe that each and everyone here, whether you played to the highest level or not, we are all starting from scratch, we are all learning. At the end of the day, we all develop our own philosophy and add from what our colleagues bring,” he said.

He stressed that having a strong playing career does not automatically make someone a good coach. “It’s not about you being an ex-player… we are all learning,” he added.
Paintsil also praised his fellow participants, saying: “I can tell you all the 20 coaches here are capable of handling all the top teams and the national teams in the near future.”
For Paintsil, the CAF License A course is more than just another coaching certificate. It is a chance to grow, improve, and prepare to make a lasting impact from the touchline.
