Ghana assistant coach John Paintsil says he believes the Black Stars have the experience to reach the semifinals or even the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 2026 tournament, jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece.

After exiting at the group stage in both 2014 in Brazil and 2022 in Qatar, Paintsil feels the squad has matured and is ready to compete in the later rounds.

“We have enough experience to be in the semi-finals or final of the 2026 World Cup,” he told 3Sports.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on 17 June, face England on 23 June, and conclude the group stage against Croatia on 27 June.

As part of preparations, the Black Stars will regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria and Germany, before taking on Mexico ahead of the tournament.
