Mozambique will host the Black Meteors of Ghana this afternoon at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto in the first leg of the 2023 TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Cup of Nations second round qualifiers.
The host will look to finish off the game before the return encounter whiles Ghana also set sights on grinding a positive outcome to brighten their qualification chances.
The fourth-placed side in the last edition were handed a walkover in the first qualifying round and will now have to come off as the better side over the Mambas who also eliminated Mauritius in the first qualifying round with a 5-1 on aggregate victory
Coach Ibrahim Tanko's men have been in camp for over a month now at the Ghana Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, and are looking really poised and ready for the epic clash coming up today.
The Meteors tested their strength with a friendly against topflight side Dreams FC and humbled them smoothly by 2-1 at the Ohene Gyan Stadium and will hope to build on that momentum in their subsequent games, starting from this afternoon.
The team arrived in Maputo on the early hours of Friday and have since gotten themselves into serious preparations, and even trained on the match venue earlier yesterday for quick acclimatization as the CAF statues stipulates.
