Charles Taylor, a legend of the Ghana Premier League, strongly asserts that Salifu Ibrahim and Richmond Lamptey deserve spots in the Black Stars squad.
Ibrahim, representing Accra Hearts of Oak, and Lamptey, playing for Kotoko, have showcased exceptional form in the ongoing Premier League season. Their impressive performance was particularly evident in the recent Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium during Round 14.
The dexterity and confidence displayed by these two players have earned applause, leading Charles Taylor, a former player of both Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, to advocate for their inclusion in the senior national team.
"If we don’t see these two (Salifu and Lamptey) in the Black Stars squad, then we need to question Chris Hughton. The two players have shown talent and quality and deserve a place in our national team," Taylor emphasized on Angel TV.
Salifu Ibrahim joined Accra Hearts of Oak from Techiman Eleven Wonders in February 2021, playing a pivotal role in securing the Premier League title for the Phobians after a decade. Richmond Lamptey, on the other hand, signed with the Porcupine Warriors at the beginning of the 2021/2022 season, coming from Inter Allies.
Black Stars coach Chris Hughton faces significant pressure as he prepares to announce the squad for the upcoming Nations Cup in Ivory Coast next month.
