Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah is very hopeful the current set of players will make Ghana proud at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, slated for early next year.

Ghana secured qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations for the tenth consecutive time after beating Central African Republic last September in Kumasi to finish as winners of Group E in the qualifiers.

Currently, many a Ghanaian football faithful, are patiently waiting for coach Chris Hughton's squad announcement for the big tournament coming up as Ghana hope to end it over fourty year AFCON drought.

Giving his take on the current squad, the ex- Juventus and Fenerbahce midfielder feels everything should be in place so far with regards to the team's preparations until the tournament starts as he is very optimistic they will represent themselves very well.

"Not knowing where to pitch camp at this point] brings a lot of distraction because, at the end of the day when you are going to a tournament, you want everything to be done ahead of time," he said.

"Here we are, we still don't know the venue where the team will go and camp.

"We hope that whatever is happening, they [GFA] know better. They should finalise everything so the boys will go to camp in peace. They will represent Ghana well in Cote d'Ivoire and we will see what they will come out with."

Ghana have been placed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will commence on January 13, 2023.
