Patrick Kpozo, a former Ghana U-20 player, has been presented with a golden opportunity to showcase his talent following the injuries to Baba Abdul Rahman and Gideon Mensah.
The left-back now has the chance to shine brightly for Ghana and establish himself in the left-back position in the upcoming match against Madagascar.
Kpozo received his first call-up to the national team in March, under the guidance of head coach Chris Hughton, for the home and away encounters against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
However, he did not have the chance to start for the Black Stars in those games as Gideon Mensah was preferred by the coaching staff.
With Baba Rahman not included in the squad for the upcoming match against Madagascar, Kpozo has been called up for the second time.
Unfortunately for Ghana, but fortunately for the young defender, Gideon Mensah has suffered a fresh injury that will rule him out of the team for the upcoming match.
As the only remaining left-back in the squad, the FC Sheriff Tiraspol player now has a chance to make his mark in the Ghana national team jersey at the senior level. The match will take place on June 18 in Antananarivo against Madagascar.
Kpozo has had an impressive season, winning all domestic trophies with FC Sheriff Tiraspol and even facing strong opponents like Manchester United FC in the UEFA Europa League.
