The MTN FA Cup Committee have announced the date, venue and time for the 2022/23 final between King Faisal FC and Dreams FC.
The 'Insha Allah' lads have had a stellar campaign in the league cup so far including a highly-spirited performance against Nsoatreman FC in the semi final- a tie they won by 3-2, having knocked out giants Aduana Stars in round eight as well.
Also, the 'Still Believe' outfit edged out defending champions Hearts of Oak en route to this stage, and wrapped it up with a 2-1 win over lower division side Skyy FC in the other semi final game.
The final has been slated for Sunday, June 18 2023 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese at 16:00GMT.
Vice Chairman of the FA Cup Committee, Kofi Poku confirmed in an exclusive interview with Kumasi-based Kessben FM and highlighted on why they opted for that grounds.
"We’ve decided to play the finals at Abrankese on June 18 because the pitch is not as large as the Accra Sports Stadium and Baba Yara”
“The ambiance we will get at both Accra Sports Stadium and Baba Yara won’t make the game lively. Already fans are not watching games in recent times and if we are to play the finals with a very sparse crowd, you know how it will be. Since we started running the FA Cup, we always choose a venue which is not too big so fans can fill the stadium to the brim” he said.
Winner of the tie will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.
