The Black Stars have had a jittery start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and that's why former captain and head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor feels the only time for redemption and revival is the upcoming double header against Sudan.
The four-time African champions haven't really been impressive having picked just a point from their opening two matches including a defeat in Kumasi to halt their home unbeaten run that had existed for twenty-five years.
Coach Otto Addo and his men have regrouped again and are preparing for the double header against Sudan from now till next week and are definitely setting sights on nothing but a pair of wins in these matches to enhance their qualification hopes.
In an interview with Graphic Sports, C.K Akonnor, who handled the Black Stars at some point strongly believes the team will qualify regardless but will have to put in extra efforts in the main competition to avoid embarrassing campaigns like the previous two editions.
"Qualifying should not be a problem. I will be surprised if they don’t qualify, but we have to do well when we play in the competition proper."
He added that getting only a point from those matches will be a disaster but he is still very confident the team will prevail.
"It’s not good to play two matches and get one point, but I know and hope they will bounce back."
Ghana will host Sudan in the first leg on Thursday, October 10, at the Ohene Gyan Stadium at 16:00GMT
