Veteran gaffer Joseph Emmanuel Sarpong says he had to threaten Accra Academy's authorities of quitting before Asamoah Gyan was admitted in the school.
J.E Sarpong ensured that the former Black Stars captain attended Accra Academy, a second cycle institution, when the headmistress opposed.
The former Ebusua Dwarfs coach was the trainer for Accra Academy and insisted on his enrolment in order to harness the talent of Asamoah Gyan.
Asamoah Gyan have on numerous occasions admitted the role of J.E Sarpong in his career.
The former Liberty Professional's striker honoured the seasoned Ghanaian coach when he was launching his book title "LeGyandry" this year.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since ending his one-year stay with Legon Cities in the 2020/21 season.
J.E Sarpong says he threatened to quit the school before Asamoah Gyan was handed admission at Accra Academy.
"The Head Mistress say no when I recommended that they give him (Asamoah Gyan) admission to Accra Academy," he told Ernest Brew Smith.
"I threatened to quit the job and that forced her hand to admit him after sating away from work for two weeks," he revealed.
