The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has rejected claims that it gave GH₵12 million to the Black Stars, calling the reports “false, misleading, and without any factual basis.”
The board issued the statement after social media posts suggested cocoa funds were being used to sponsor the senior national football team, something COCOBOD says is untrue.
In its clarification, the board stressed that its main focus remains supporting cocoa farmers.
“We are fully committed to prioritising the welfare of cocoa farmers, including prompt payments, supply of farming inputs, extension services, and continued investment in the sector,” the statement said.
COCOBOD added that at no point have funds meant for farmer payments been redirected to the Black Stars.
The board urged the public to ignore misinformation and rely only on official COCOBOD channels for accurate updates.
