The Black Satellites of Ghana redeemed themselves last Tuesday night with a spirited performance to humble Gambia by 3-1 at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in the second group game of the ongoing 2023 African Games.

After playing out a goalless draw in their opening game against Congo couple of days ago, the four-time African champions looked very determined this time to seek redemption.

Young striker Musibau Aziz pounced on a huge goalkeeping clanger to open the scoring account for Ghana on the 12th minute before Dreams FC's sensational prodigy Abdul Aziz Issah doubled the lead just four minutes from the break.

Musibau subsequently missed from the spot before substitute Ebrimah Cisse pulled one back with seven minutes to goal. Jerry Afriyie restored Ghana's two-goal lead in stoppage time with a beautiful finish to seal a 3-1 victory.

In a post-match interview, the young tactician lauded the hard-work and overall performance of his players and added they really showed character and deserved all the three points.

"We have to congratulate the boys, they working really hard. We've been pushing them really hard, we know their level and we know what they can bring and that's what they did today. I told them if they are courageous and show hunger, every opponent will have a difficult day against us and we are very happy with their performance, they deserve it."

"They are working really hard, very hard and I think we have full control over the game, created enough chances, unlucky with the penalty and gave one goal away as a gift but the response was fantastic", he concluded

The Black Satellites after the precious win are currently leading Group A with four points and will face Benin on Friday, March 15 in their final group game.
