Ex-Black Stars winger, Emmanuel Duah has emphasized the need for the merging of local and foreign based players in the Black Stars starting XI.

Ghana are currently sitting on a time bomb as their qualification to the 2025 AFCON hangs by a thread after a poor run of results, so far, in their qualifying campaign.

The Black Stars were stunned 1-0 by Angola at home, going ahead to draw against Niger, followed by another draw vs Sudan - leaving Ghana limping in third place in Group F.

However, speaking in an interview with Kessben, Duah showed his resentment about how home based players are overlooked when it comes to starting roles in the senior national team' the Black Stars.

“It will be prudent for the coach to at least give three local players starting roles in the Black Stars. Blending the local and foreign based players will make the team strong.

“There should be a competition in the team. It shouldn’t always be foreign players. No player should have an automatic pick into the starting eleven. We performed better during our playing days because of competition. Local players battled foreign players for the starting spot and this made the team flourish," Duah concluded.
