Daniel Nii Laryea, is the only Ghanaian referee selected for the ongoing 2025 AFCON and has hugely been praised with the recent one coming from the Chairman of Ghana Referees Association George Seija.
The 38-year-old supervised the second semi-final of the competition last night where host nation Morocco edged Nigeria via penalty shootouts to secure their first final in a very long time.
Despite making some few mistakes in the game, Laryea was a standout and delivered a great show which has seen received huge applauds from football fans.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the referees head of Ghana was so proud of Laryea stating he was on top of his name and rated him nine over ten for that outstanding performance
“If I were the match commissioner in the Nigeria-Morocco game, I will give referee Daniel Laryea’s performance 9/10. This is evidence Ghanaian referees are still among the best.”
The final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations is slated for Sunday, November 18, 2026.
