Black Galaxies playmaker, David Abagna has admitted they are in a very tough group but will offer all they could to sail out of the first round and are ready for the tough challenges ahead.
The 2022 African Nations Championship commenced last night at the Nelson Mandela Stadium where host nation Algeria narrowly edged past 2014 champions Libya in the opening game, thanks Aimen Mahious second half penalty.
The home-based national team have been in serious preparations towards the competition for the past two months, including a pre tournament training camp in Egypt where they engaged in some serious training sessions.
Ghana is housed in Group C alongside Madagascar, Sudan and holders Morocco- who just pulled out of the competition few days ago.
Speaking to Cafonline, the Real Tamale United midfielder believes staying focused throughout the competition will help them reach their target. He said;
“We are a difficult group. We cannot afford to look down on anyone. It is a game of football which at times comes with surprises,” David Abagna told Cafonline
Everyone comes into the tournament with their best players, so you need to be ready for anything”
“We can only stay focused and try to take every game as it comes."
The Black Galaxies will face Madagascar in their opening game of the competition on Sunday, January 15, in Constantine.
