Assistant coach of the Black Stars, Desmond Ofei, says he is confident in the squad selected for the international friendly against Mexico, describing the players as talented, hungry, and ready to prove themselves.

He explained that the team includes top players from the Ghana Premier League as well as promising U23 talents, all given a chance to impress new head coach Carlos Queiroz.

“For the upcoming game against Mexico, we have selected a very talented and ambitious group of players from our local league, alongside some exciting U23 talents and players who are highly motivated to show their qualities to the nation and to our new head coach, Mr. Carlos Queiroz,” Ofei said.

Ofei admitted the challenge will be tough, with Mexico seen as one of the stronger teams in world football.

He said the match will be an important test as Ghana continues to rebuild and shape a new team.

“Mexico is a top-level opponent with a strong football culture, great intensity, and international experience, so this will be an important test for our group,” he added.

“These are the types of matches that help players grow, help coaches evaluate, and help a nation continue building for the future.”

The game is expected to give local-based players a rare chance to prove themselves on the international stage, while also helping the technical team assess emerging talents.
